Meet the fighter jocks who fly the F/A-18 Super Hornets of the aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan - in a novel of supersonic air combat so powerfully real, it could only have been written by a former Navy pilot.

The Gulf War has been over for ten years.  It's up to pilots like Brick Maxwell and his glory-seeking commander, Killer DeLancey, to keep the peace by a narrow margin - a margin called the No-Fly zone.  The Iraqi pilots like to buzz the borders - just close enough to shake up the U.S. Hornets' nest.  And everyone knows these Hornets can't sting unless they see hostile intent.

However, intent is a hard thing to judge when you're in the air and the enemy is flying into your zone.  But when an Iraqi MiG does go down, chaos breaks out on both sides of the border - and peace is the last thing on anyone's mind. The electrifying fiction debut of a military writer who transports readers into the cockpits.

WHAT THEY'RE SAYING ABOUT
WITH HOSTILE INTENT:

"A roller coaster ride: raw sex, unrequited romance, professional back stabbing, innovative murder, back-alley shootouts, a ramp strike, a multi-bogey furball and an intentional blue-on-blue."
-- The Hook: The Journal of Carrier Aviation Winter 2001

"Gandt knows what it's like in the cockpit, and he takes his readers there with flair. This may be the best way to experience the speed and danger without having to shoot anybody."
Miami Herald, 18 November, 2001

"Gandt is as good an author as he is a pilot, and that's high praise."
-- Aviation Week, 19 November, 2001

"This is a great story, with marvelous combat flying sequences. Fans of Gandt's past works should gravitate to this one."
-- Flight Journal, June 2002

"With aerial fight scenes that are more thrilling than a back-to-back showing of Top Gun and Iron Eagle, this red-hot piece of military fiction is certain to keep readers riveted."
-- Publishers Weekly

"A red-hot aerial shoot-'em up by an aviation pro who has done his homework."
-- Stephen Coonts, Author, Flight of the Intruder

"The characters are believable, and the combat scenes are excellent."
-- Dale Brown, Author, Flight of the Old Dog

"Gandt has - as [Ernest K.] Gann did - moved into the world of fiction, and though I rarely read make-believe, I consumed his newest work in two sittings, time out for lunch.  He does a superb job of describing the game of energy management that today is air-combat maneuvering.  Bob Gandt has written a novel that could quickly turn to truth."
-- Stephan Wilkinson, Contributing editor, Air & Space Magazine

I just finished "With Hostile Intent" I had stumbled upon it in the bookstore with my mom, and it must be the only book that's ever held my interest after the first three pages. I am asking for all of your books for Christmas and my birthday now. :-)

I myself plan on becoming a Naval aviator. It sounds like a lot of fun, and after reading the inside back cover of your mini-biography, it sounds like you had a lot of fun too. :-)

Keep on writing! I like your style.s

Hi Rob, I am an accidental reader from down under (Australia) as I was on the internet looking for books Dale Brown etc being one I saw your books on Amazon, why do you not publish in Australia???? I managed to obtain 3 "Brick Maxwell" books I have also the Killing Sky on order again from the States. This is now the problem I have I cannot get and I have tried all avenues overseas and local book stores they cannot get "With Hostile Intent" to complete my set may I also say that you are a very good writer and I have loved your books it is the case of not being able to put them down!! I love all my books and I have over 200 books of all different authors but I also like complete sets. I have seen that all my avenues have been blocked as I have come up against "Out of Print" everywere I have also tried second hand which if I must I will get as I like new books. I am now going to try and order from you if you do overseas I hope so If not could you make an exception for me (grovel grovel) If not can you pick up this E mail and do something for me Thanks.
